About

I am a Collegiate Assistant Professor in Humanities and Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts at the University of Chicago, where I teach and write on modern and contemporary poetry and comparative poetics.

My book, Forms of Poetic Attention (Columbia University Press, 2020), is a comparative exploration of the particular modes of attention poems both produce and require. My shorter scholarly have appeared in Mantis, ebr, Philosophy & Literature, Dibur, and Modern Language Notes, and my poems have been published in Literary Matters, The Warwick Review, Harpur Palate, Streetlight, Mantis, and, in Italian translation, Atelier.

I also take walks, some glimpses of which might appear on this site from time to time.
